Overview
British Gypsum Thistle Multi Finish is a premium, high-quality finish plaster designed for a wide range of internal wall and ceiling applications. This pre-mixed gypsum plaster requires only the addition of clean water and provides a smooth, durable surface ideal for decorative finishes. Suitable for use on plasterboard, low-suction, and cement-based backgrounds, Thistle Multi Finish provides a high-performance, long-lasting base for decorative applications.
Key Features:
- High-Quality Finish: Provides a smooth, inert surface to internal walls and ceilings.
- Versatile Application: Can be applied to a wide range of surfaces including plasterboard, concrete, and gypsum or cement-based undercoat plasters.
- Easy to Use: Pre-mixed, requiring only the addition of clean water for easy preparation.
- Fire Resistance: Offers excellent fire protection, as gypsum's unique behavior in fire retards the spread of flames and maintains structural integrity.
- Thermal and Acoustic Benefits: Contributes to both thermal resistance and improved acoustic performance in partitions.
- Excellent Adhesion: Excellent bonding capabilities for various surfaces including plasterboard and other treated surfaces.
Applications:
- Internal Walls and Ceilings: Ideal for creating a smooth and durable finish on a variety of internal surfaces.
- Skimming Over Existing Plaster: Suitable for refurbishing old walls and ceilings with a high-quality finish.
- General Wall Finishing: Works well on plasterboard, concrete, and gypsum or cement-based undercoat plasters.
Performance Benefits:
- Fire Resistance: Gypsum-based plaster is known for its fire-retardant properties, providing essential protection for building structures during a fire.
- Thermal Insulation: While minimal, it provides some thermal resistance when applied in thicknesses suitable for your application.
- Acoustic Insulation: Enhances acoustic performance, particularly in wall partitions, improving sound insulation ratings by up to 2dB.
- Moisture Resistance: Ideal for dry internal environments, providing long-lasting adhesion and strength.
Application Instructions:
- Background Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of loose material. Plasterboards should be applied to the face without paper overlap, and joints should be reinforced with Thistle ProTape FT50 or Gyproc Joint Tape.
- Mixing: Mix with clean water, and ensure the mixture is smooth and lump-free. Avoid over-mixing to maintain the plaster's strength and workability.
- Application: Apply with firm pressure, building up the required thickness in two layers. Trowel the surface to a smooth finish once the plaster begins to set.
- Drying Time: Allow the plaster to set and dry completely before applying decoration or tiles. This ensures the plaster has reached its full strength and adhesion.
Additional Information:
- Certifications: Complies with EN 13279-1 and ISO 9001:2015 for manufacturing quality standards.
- Storage: Store in dry conditions, off the ground, to avoid moisture absorption. Shelf life is 4 months when stored correctly.
- Fire Rating: Euroclass F – Provides excellent fire protection properties for building elements.
